Welcome to the Vancouver Eco Educators Network. Here is a place where teachers of any type can gather to share resources, ideas, stories, and a common love of the environment and all things natural. Connect Four (or more!): A Great Game and a Life Lesson!

Today was my last day of school for the summer. I love being a student. Chatting with other like-minded teachers: talk about inspiration. And speaking of inspiration:

Let's keep in mind the importance of those personal connections. Especially in our technological world.

And now, I am off to the Vancouver Folk Festival to connect with the ocean, the music, and the awesome people of Vancouver.

Wise words

The all important first blog post. Here is a little bit of a window into my soul. A glimpse down the rabbit hole of my crazy swirling brain. A snippet of my rationale and the goal I had in mind when creating this blog. Enjoy!

My name is Kate Mosley. I am a 28 year old teacher, librarian, and environmentalist living in Vancouver, British Columbia. Born and raised on the West Coast, with much of my time spent as an island girl, I have always felt a strong connection to the natural world. I feel it is my calling in life to inspire young minds to feel the same, and to see the importance of protecting our precious planet.

While studying to be a librarian at UBC, I have spent many hours learning about how to integrate technology into the school. While this is inevitably the direction our world is headed, I fear that teachers will forget about the importance of students connecting with each other and with their environment. It is my goal, with this website, to create a place for these two worlds to meld together. Let's not use technology just for the sake of using it. Let's use it to enhance our teaching and to spread the word about awesome sustainability efforts, community building projects, and student led initiatives to restore our environment.

I will share ideas, resources, hopes, dreams, goals, projects, and whatever musings flow from fingertip to keyboard. Join me in creating a Vancouver Eco Educators Network, and let's get out there and get some dirt under our fingernails saving this awesome planet (and then of course, posting, hashtaging, and sharing the *!@$ out of our successes!)
